The Journey: 16 Chapters of Resilience, War & Innovation | Alex Fox
Three Acts. One Extraordinary Life.

The Bridge Builder

A decade of transformation — from Italian-Ukrainian roots to wartime resilience to a global movement. The unfinished story of how one person's journey became everyone's roadmap.

Act I — Chapters 1–4
1991 — 2014

Act I — The Foundations

Where two cultures, two languages and one 1882 factory planted the first seeds of a bridge

Ch.1 — The Italian Legacy

Born in Ukraine, raised in Italy — from Veneto to Milan, Lake Como to Rome. A childhood shaped by two worlds: Italian artisanal excellence and Ukrainian resilience. The early years instilled a fundamental belief: quality comes from inherited knowledge, mastery from questioning everything.

The family's connection to the historic 1882 book factory in Lviv — a building that had survived wars, empires, and revolutions — was always there in the background, waiting.

Ch.2, Ch.3 & Ch.4 — The First Taste of Magic, Return to the Origins & OK Factory

In 2012, the Euro football championship put Ukraine back on the radar. In August 2013, a BlaBlaCar ride opened a door to a world of possibility. By January 2014, the move to Lviv was made — into the heart of a revolution — and the 1882 factory that would become everything was discovered.

OK Factory opens its doors. The first coworker arrives from Australia. The LED sign "Everything Will Be OK" is installed on the roof. Not optimism. A philosophy. Seeds of delayed gratification planted deep.

Ch.1 · The Italian Legacy
Growing up between two cultures. Italian artisanal precision meets Ukrainian capacity for endurance. The inheritance that neither passport could fully capture.
Ch.2 · The First Taste of Magic
The BlaBlaCar ride of August 2013. A stranger's car. A conversation that opened a continent. The moment curiosity became a compass.
Ch.3 · Return to the Origins – 2014 — 2014
January 2014. Lviv. The Maidan revolution in the background. The 1882 book factory waiting — its printing presses silent, its walls full of stories.
Ch.4 · OK Factory – Where It All Began — Where It All Began
The Austro-Hungarian book factory reborn as Ukraine's first coworking hub. From bound pages to boundless ideas. The LED sign that became a movement: "Everything Will Be OK."

Act II — The Transformation

From launching airlines to a pandemic reset, from the Canary Islands to a war that forged everything

The Pandemic Destroys, War Reshapes

Ernest Airlines shut down. The beautiful experiment in human connection grounded. For most, it was failure. But failure is just information in a different format.

Then February 24, 2022. War. Suddenly, the theoretical frameworks became survival guides. War-Life-Balance wasn't a concept to teach — it was the only way to live.

BRAVE Hub from a Nightclub

In the first days of the invasion, a closed nightclub in Lviv — a former #1 TripAdvisor destination just 100 meters from Alex's apartment — became something new: BRAVE. A hub equipped with generators, Starlink, and a bunker. Where producers could ship packages during power windows. Where code was written by candlelight. Where trade became an act of resistance.

4 hours of electricity at 4 AM. That's when shipments went out. When orders were processed. When SofiIA's code ran on a borrowed laptop with a solar panel jury-rigged to its charger.

Ch.5 · Heart Over the Obstacle – Ernest Airlines
Europe's first low-cost airline connecting Italy and Ukraine. Funded by a Minecraft co-founder, managed by ex-Armani talent. Planes named after founders' children. Heart over obstacle.
Ch.6 · Sowing the Future
The years of building quietly beneath the surface. Relationships forged, networks seeded, ideas planted that would only bloom after the storm. Delayed gratification as strategy.
Ch.7 · Rising from the Ashes – The Pandemic — The Pandemic
March 2020: the pandemic grounds Ernest Airlines. What looked like failure was information in a different format. In the wreckage, the architecture of Faktorist begins to take shape.
Ch.8 · The Canary Islands Intuition
Stranded in the Canary Islands after the pandemic. In the silence, the seed of Faktorist germinates. What looked like exile becomes the strategic reset that makes everything possible.
Ch.9 · Technology First
The philosophy that guided Faktorist's architecture. Not tech for tech's sake — but infrastructure that makes trade possible at 4 AM during a blackout. SofiIA's code begins during power windows.
Ch.10 · Bravery – The Seeds of Change — Seeds of Change
BRAVE hub rises from Lviv's former #1 TripAdvisor nightclub. Generators, Starlink, a bunker. Trade becomes resistance. Every shipment sent during a power window is a declaration: we're still here.

When a wartime response becomes a global movement — and Chapter 16 continues in real time

SofiIA: The AI Born from War

SofiIA. The name fuses Italian "IA" (Intelligenza Artificiale) with Greek "sapienza" (wisdom). An AI assistant designed during blackouts, coded during power windows, trained on voices recorded in bomb shelters. She understands resilience because she was built by it.

2022-2023: SofiIA born during blackouts. By 2025, she's a global platform. Not a chatbot. A bridge-builder between Ukrainian makers and global customers. Every interaction is an act of connection.

Made-in-Ukraine & the Movement

The Made-in-Ukraine brand goes global. Magazine and podcast launches document the stories behind the products. UAmbassadors — up to 50% commission model where passion beats competence. Approximately 10 million Ukrainians worldwide, each becoming an economic force.

June 2025: Ukraine Recovery Conference at La Nuvola di Fuksas, Rome. The circle closes. Where the journey began — bridges between Italy and Ukraine — is where the future is being built.

Ch.11 · February 24, 2022 – War-Life-Balance — War-Life-Balance
The day that split the world in two. Not a work-life balance theory — a daily survival framework. What do you keep? What can you sacrifice? How do you build meaning when the infrastructure collapses?
